Am I a Candidate?

• Candidates for LAP-BAND® surgery will have a BMI of 40 or more. People with a BMI of 35 may also be candidates for LAP-BAND if they have a weight-related health condition such as type 2 diabetes.
• Candidates for the ROSE revision procedure have either:

1. Been successful with a previous bypass surgery but have subsequently gained back the weight; or
2. Failed to lose weight with a previous bypass surgery.

• For people who would like quicker results with less follow-up care, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy may be a way to achieve their goals.

This includes instructions related to smoking cessation, diet, and regular follow-up appointments. Also, weight loss surgery is not an option for people with certain medical conditions such as digestive tract inflammation, cirrhosis, infections, or heart disease.
