Choose a Surgeon Certified by the American Board of Plastic SurgeryChoosing to have plastic surgery is an important decision, and so is selecting a plastic surgeon. Our surgeons offer credentials you can put your trust in. All of our surgeons are board-certified or board-eligible and have received extensive surgical training in one of the most rigorous medical specialty programs. Their training uniquely qualifies them to perform plastic surgery on the face and all parts of the body. In most states, a licensed physician may perform cosmetic procedures without being board-certified in plastic surgery. Just because a doctor is board-certified does not mean he or she is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). Many "cosmetic surgeons" list board certification but only the American Board of Plastic Surgery has traditionally overseen the training of Plastic Surgeons. The American Board of Plastic Surgery is the only one of the 24 boards approved by the American Board of Medical Specialties that certifies physicians in plastic surgery of the face and all areas of the body.
