Weekend Face LiftTurn Back the Hands of Time - Over the Weekend?
Am I a good candidate for this procedure? There are many people today showing the signs of aging that aren't candidates for the "full facelift". In most cases The Weekend Facelift is an ideal solution for the 40-55 year old with early sagging of the upper neck and jowl area. A FREE consultation is the best method of determining if the Weekend Facelift is suitable for you. If you are at or over age 40, an electrocardiogram will be required. You must stop smoking, taking aspirin or taking diet pills at least two weeks prior to the procedure. Why is it called the Weekend Facelift? Our patients started calling it this name because they felt that they could easily recover from this procedure over the weekend and return to their normal activities the next week. Although there are still small sutures in front of the ear, these can easily be hidden with the hair and any bruising has been so minimal in most cases it has not been a problem to hide. How is the Weekend Facelift different from a traditional facelift? The traditional facelift involves an incision in front of the ear (pre-auricular) combined with an incision in the hairline in front of the ear (temporal), an incision all the way up behind the ear and an incision into the hair line behind the ear (post-auricular). It involves extensive undermining of the skin of the neck and face and elevation and fixation of the deeper muscle-fascia layer (SMAS). This procedure may take as long as five hours and requires general anesthesia performed by a Professional M.D. Anesthesiologist. There is increased risk of muscle or nerve damage and it takes at least two or three weeks to recover. Most people do not need such an extensive procedure to get the results they want. The Weekend Facelift usually involves an incision in front of the ear and a small extension behind the earlobe. It is approximately 1/3 of the length of the traditional incision. There is far less undermining of facial and neck skin. The SMAS layer is identified and sutured so that the results are long lasting. The procedure is much less invasive, and less likely to have complications than the traditional procedure. There is far less swelling and bruising after the procedure. It takes about an hour to do, and it can be performed under local or light sedation anesthesia. Best of all, the Weekend Facelift procedure costs much less than a full facelift. When can I return to my normal routine? Most patients return to work or their normal routine between 2 and 7 days following their procedure. It is generally recommended that patients "take it easy" for a week after the procedure. Many patients say they feel nearly normal that afternoon, however, by the next morning they experience some discomfort. So What Now?If you're interested in having the Weekend Facelift or another procedure, please call our office and we'll schedule your complimentary consultation. |
