The thread facelift is usually pain-free after injection of the local freezing anesthesia. However, if the entire brow, cheek, jowl and neck are being treated, the procedure is best performed under twilight sedation and local anesthesia. Like any procedure using a needle, the Contour Threads&trade facelift may cause excessive bruising and swelling. But this can be minimized with makeup until resolved a few days later.

On very rare occasions, patients may experience visible or palpable threads, infection or rejection of the threads. These complications, however, are easily resolved by removing and/or replacing the threads. In fact, the entire procedure is reversible, so unwanted effects can be easily corrected under local anesthesia. When performed by a certified ThreadLift™ physician, the ThreadLift has a complication rate of much less than 1%.
