The secret to the ThreadLift is tiny Contour Threads™. Under local freezing anesthesia, these smooth, barbed polypropylene facelift sutures are inserted beneath the skin and looped around deep supporting tissues of the brows, cheeks, jowls and neck with a hollow bore needle to raise them towards the hairline (called a "LoopLift™"). For additional lift and support, barbed threads — normal surgical sutures with evenly spaced cogs — are inserted into the cheek, edge of the brow and jowl using the same needle to grasp soft tissue. The surgeon then lifts, sculpts and shapes these areas as desired, fastening the second set of threads to the original sutures. The threads are cut when the desired results have been achieved.
